Well, good news, a magician was able to obtain a copy of the tablet before anyone else and we made an exclusive presentation. Siri is part of the course and may prove interesting. If the wizard voice announces bad weather, why not remove the cloud and show a radiant sun instead? This is immediately more gay. The magician's hand is not unknown in the field, he had already then made a video with iOS 5 in advance (see video). Today is rebelote for the sake of our little peepers. The result is very conclusive!

Omniscience Siri revealed by Saga Design

The personal assistant Siri between slowly but surely in our lives. Some have tried to humanize it by illustrating various drawing blanks. But lately the studio 3d design Shapeways has proposed a contest for developers and designers to imagine a three-dimensional SIRI for our real world. The prize for the best 3d model has been awarded to artists from the workshop of SaGa Design for a work called "Siri Omniscient".

This is an accessory that slips over the iPhone and offers a face to Siri. The mask has an androgynous form torn elusive smile and suggested that the master of the iPhone that the machine knows many things but wants to keep secret. Behind the omniscient gaze of the sculpture shines a ghostly glow. This is the screen, some might say of the intelligence, the iPhone. With this shell the main buttons are still accessible while the screen remains hidden. This representation surreal prompts the user to interact directly with Siri without handling the iDevice. Obviously it is not so! The home button is available, otherwise how could you ask your assistant.

From imagination to realization that there is not. A beautiful representation of SIRI available on the Shapeway product.

After Renault, Mercedes is the builder to announce the tight integration of the iPhone in the new Mercedes A Class Connected and housed in the glove box through a dock connector usual, the iPhone will sell its 3.5-inch display against a 6 inch screen around the center position on the dashboard. Only drawback, if the image displayed on the iPhone is deported on a larger screen, it will go through mandatory physical controls on the steering wheel to control the iPhone (touch on a management screen would have been more accurate but ergonomic least ...).

iPhone siri name meaning

Just to clarify, Siri Inc. is the company that Apple acquired in April of 2010 [1]. Siri Inc. developed Siri, a personal assistant application that was available for awhile on Apple's App Store before the acquisition [2]. After integrating it into the 4S, Apple retained its original name rather than rebrand it.

I haven't found any concrete information on the origin of the name Siri pertaining to Siri Inc. other than what I just learned about Siri being a spinoff of SRI from Brian Roemmele's answer. "Siri" may've just been a casual way they referred to SRI internally.

An underlying meaning of the word may have also been a factor in their decision. Googling I found a couple meanings of 'Siri':

  • The name Siri is of Scandinavian origin and the meaning of Siri is "beautiful victory".  [3]
  • 'Siri' in the South-Indian language Tamil means 'to smile'. (courtesy of Praveen Rajaretnam's comment below)
  • [Siri is] an object-oriented constraint language using a single abstraction mechanism developed by Bruce Horn of CMU in 1991. Siri is a conceptual blend of BETA and Bertrand. It is similar to Kaleidoscope. [4]
The fact that Siri was unveiled to the world with the iPhone4S may also have had some weight in the decision to retain the Siri name. i.e. There's the iPhone 4, then there's the iPhone4S - which would people most commonly associate with Apple's brilliant new Siri voice recognition assistant?

Apple new iPhone 4S adertisements

Apple just posted two new ads touting its iPhone 4S on their YouTube page. The first, entitled "Rock God" shows young men passionate about music and especially the guitar. While a protagonist going to declare Siri "I must have a guitar," others will in turn ask how to play this or that piece.

Siri will then display their musical notes. At the end, the band's guitarist ask the wizard voice of the iPhone 4S it is now called "Rock God". Siri will run.

In a second advertisement, the iPhone 4S with Siri is always highlighted. The theme is travel. Each character will require some information, such as "What is the best way to go to Santa Cruz? "" What is the best barbecue in the corner? "," Why does a rodeo in the corner? "Or" Where are we? ". Siri will have the answer every time.

The last girl is going to ask what the iPhone reminds him to repeat (one imagines) a love ballad by the sea.

Why Siri is missing from iPhone 4

We're going to say things. I think everyone who reads this article will do for (logically) why Siri was not integrated with the iPhone 4 and it is the question I will try to answer.

In short, this is bound to the chip A5. It's silly, you say, but not that much. We must immediately point out that the problem is not related to performance. The chip that powers the iPhone 4, the A4, is powerful enough to handle Siri. The problem is more a technology is lacking in the A4. Technology that has only been integrated from the A5.

This technology comes from a company called Audience with which Apple has an agreement. It is an advanced development of audio recognition by a camera held well away from the person, while focusing on the sensor near the source of voice and cutting reception on ambient noise. Without the chip installed directly in the A5, Siri performance are greatly affected because the microphone has a hard time not try to analyze the noise for recognition.

4 in the iPhone and iPhone 3G, this type of system (much less advanced and powerful at the time) was already present, but needed a chip off-chip A4 and one that fueled the iPhone 3G, Problem that was solved with the A5 system in which the hearing has been installed directly.

So basically, without hearing technology, Siri would have a hard enough time properly understood and properly analyze the voice of the user.

Siri for iPhone 4 and iPad 2

Since Apple released Siri the personal assistant for iPhone 4S on April 2010 it became a hot topic for users who have older iDevices than the iPhone 4S. Also it caught the most attention of iOS developers especially after the release of iOS 5 jailbreak for both A4 and A5 iDevices chips. They didn't just make it possible to have Siri on iPhones and iPods only but even for the iPad assuming it has a large screen that Siri is not prepared to work on. I have been following the project of iPad's Siri on Cydia and I can tell that Siri is fully ready to work perfectly on it through ( Spire For iPad ) Tool on iHacksrepo.com Cydia source as it also has the Spire for both iPhone and iPod too.

After the release of Spire by Chpwn, more tweaks on Cydia supported the Siri Spire Project like ( SiriToggles ) which allows Siri to enable/disable certain settings, get info on battery level, change your screen brightness and even launch applications. On the other side we have ( Hands-Free Control ) which provide continuous listening service  to activate Siri by just calling her : Siri! Those are the most important available Cydia Tools to have beside Spire.

Unfortunately, Spire requires a proxy server to work. The proxy server is powered by iPhone 4S since the servers of Apple don't allow any other devices rather than 4S iPhones to connect. But don't worry because I think with having iPhone 4S jailbroken we could improve Spire to work freely and connect to Apple servers directly.

Finally, have a nice time playing Siri folks.
