Haptic Display Technology of New iPhone 5

Today, our colleagues Maxisciences back on a very popular rumor surrounding the specifics of the next generation iPhone. It concerns the use by Apple of the Haptic Display. So-called Haptic Feedback is a process which involves sending a small electrical impulse in the user's finger on the screen to give the impression that the screen is not always flat, but in volume! This allows for example to give a feeling of relief to the Virtual Buttons.

Definition : Haptic technology, or haptics, is a tactile feedback technology which takes advantage of the sense of touch by applying forces, vibrations, or motions to the user.
I must say that this novelty would allow Cupertino to bring a real innovation in its line ... Of course, the haptic feedback is not new as some versions of it are embedded in some Samsung and other Xperia, it remains is absent on Apple's mobile products. The rumor comes not only from the lack of specificity on the Apple devices, it also comes from the fact that Cupertino would work informally with the company Senseg custodian of various patents on the haptic feedback. Besides the firm has recently filed a patent in this direction!

And you, dear readers, this kind of novelty you seduce it?

New iPhone 5 inspired by uni-body design like iMac or MacBook

Decidedly, the next iPhone unleashes rumors these days. So yesterday, we discussed the possible arrival of a processor and an output A5X in October (Read: Apple is currently testing the iPhone 5), We learn today that the design of the sixth generation iPhone could be largely inspired by the Unibody Designs of the firm at the Apple (such as the iMac or MacBook Pro). Indeed, this is not the first time such a rumor was born. Still, this time, we need this rumor to Brian J. White, an analyst at Topeka Capital Markets, which would have the information through Asian sources.

According to this source, the subcontractors would be about to launch production of certain components such as screen size is 4 inches. 4G LTE should also be part of.

Apple New iPhone 5 tested with A5X Chip and 1 GB RAM

Under the new publication 9to5mac in the laboratories of the new Apple iPhone begins to circulate for trial "disguised" in the chassis of the iPhone 4S.

The first information refer to using a different version of A5X system-on-a-chip (SoC) which he knew to the presentation of New iPad:

Apple has internally seeded a prototype next-generation iPhone with the iPhone 4 design. The actual next-generation iPhone is specifically said to not include the iPhone 4/4S design, but Apple is testing these new devices in older casings to throw off leaks. The purpose of the prototype iPhone that we heard about is to test a variation of the "A5X" chip in an iPhone.

The prototype comes with the internal code name N96 and the first reports are talking about doubling the RAM to 1GB, compared to the existing model (iPhone 4S):

Instead, the iPhone prototypes that we're talking about have a varation of the A5X's S5L8945X architecture. Like the A5X-powered iPad, these new iPhone prototypes are packing 1GB of RAM. This prototype is labeled N96 internally, but we're not sure if this internal codename will carry over to the actual next-generation iPhone. Again, this iPhone that we are describing is an internal-only unit built for testing the performance of a new chip in an iPhone, not an actual phone that Apple will produce.

Turn your iPhone into Thermometer

Some complain that the iPhone does not have a thermometer. It is true that if the Apple phone has an electronic compass, a gyroscope, a GPS and multiple motion sensors, the thermometer is sorely missed by the array of sensors (altimeter would also be welcome !). Here is an accessory to measure the temperature of your toddler and the approaching front. Its name: the ThermoDock.
Connected to dock your iPhone and run by an application, it transmits the information to the iPhone that's on its beautiful screen. ThermoDock joins the family (increasingly large) accessories referred to as medical blood pressure cuff. The ThermoDock is an infrared thermometer, which detects the temperature of even a conventional electronic sensor by the ear, except that it applies to the front. In detail, the machine senses the infrared light emitted from the skin.
As recalled Maxisciences site, the process for measuring the infrared temperature of a body is the most reliable. it is used especially for measuring the temperature of stars.

Note : ThermoDock cost you a whopping 71 euros and will need to always have your iPhone handy.

The New iPhone 5 in September?

A pair of unconfirmed rumors claim that the American manufacturer Texas Instruments have started production of chips for the next generation iPhone and this sixth generation should be presented in September. Good thing this is the new agenda set up by Apple with the release of the iPhone 4S (presented in October 2011).

This is a Texas Instrument employees who wished to remain anonymous which partially revealed information. Texas Instruments already built various pieces found in the iPhone as the controller of the touchscreen of the iPhone 4S, as well as other components of the iPad.

Meanwhile, a Chinese source claims that the iPhone 5 should be introduced in September, with a larger screen, although it does not specify the exact dimensions of this famous screen. RepairLabs which is responsible for the publication of these rumors is a source considered reliable, since in the past many rumors mentioned by this site are proven true.

Thursday Bonus: In addition to these two rumors, one third refers to the fact that Apple is working on a 5-inch screen Retina bound for a iDevice (iPad Mini, iPhone?), Which is expected in in 2013.

Turn your iPhone into Car Audio Controller

The preinstalled application for Apple's music management devices iOS, can be very handy in everyday user, but I would say the same when someone wants to use the device of driving hours. The opposite could be considered dangerous to attempt to look for someone to change track or increase the volume.

For this reason, Craig Barber created the application Car Audio Deck, an alternative to the default player, with large icons for easy handling and appearance reminiscent of car audio, and of course have access to all songs and playlists that you have created.

Car Audio Deck is available at a price of € 0.79 [Appstore Link]

Wireless Charging Technology (Induction) for iPhone

Here is an accessory that should delight many of us! Or Not. The wireless charging technology (called induction) is making great strides, as has just introduced the Energizer Energizer Inductive Charging, an apparatus therefore charging iPhone by simply placing it.

But do not imagine it is enough to simply put an iPhone 4S above, without using a bias between the phone and the dock horizontal. It is necessary that you have your iPhone with a special Energizer hull acting as a gateway to recharge. At 100 euros and 30 euros station hull (which would still have been delivered with ...), it is still expensive station.

Maybe a few times, the next iPhone will have the Qi Technology (wireless charging) integrated directly into the phone, which will override the shell special. We can dream right?

Apple prepares for New iPhone 5 Production

Foxconn, the company that assembles products including Apple, now recruited 20,000 workers for the New iPhone 5. This information is to be taken lightly as it is rumors of rumors. These additional workers will occupy the Sixth-Generation iPhone. Foxconn had in fact already received initial orders coming straight from Apple for the design. If this happens, the plant would be the main Foxconn Taiyuan. They would count 85% of the smartphone, and is committed to produce 57 million copies annually. The plant chosen would become the main place where the next Apple device is assembled.

On the other hand, some doubt. Indeed, several current workers' strikes Foxconn taking place in China. The main cause is the increase in salary. The assembler was supposed to revise upward the payroll quickly, or even nothing has changed with the arrival of the New iPhone. The workers have therefore preferred to let go of their machines to go into the street. For information, a worker at Foxconn is now paid 1,550 yuan per month (€ 185). He asks reach 1,800 yuan (€ 215). Foxconn does not looking for new employees who would accept the basic salary? Even the sites reporting the story does not have the information, although they speculate.

Which Screen Display has more pixels?

Arguably the most striking feature of the New iPad is the Retina Screen resolution in high resolution 2048 × 1535 with 3.1 million pixels and 264ppi (pixels per inch). Essentially the New iPad screen contains as many pixels the human eye can not distinguish between them a certain distance. Mathis was more curious about this screen and put it under a Digital Microscope to look better into pixels.

See the comparison between iDevices Retina Display :
  • Apple iPad 2 Display
  • Apple New iPad 3 Display
  • Apple iPod Touch (2007) Display
  • Apple iPhone 4S Display

Mathis compared the display of the New iPad ( iPad 3 ) of this iPhone 4S and other non-iOS devices. Even under the microscope with the same about the superiority of the larger screen the new iPad is obvious. The only device that is better than the new iPad is the iPhone 4S, as shown in the photo above, and because the iPhone 4S has more pixels per inch, specifically 326ppi.

See the story and the corresponding results for some other devices tested by Mathis :
  • BlackBerry PlayBook Display
  • HP TouchPad Display
  • Amazon Kindle Fire Display

A Smart Cover for iPhone

The idea of Smart Cover is not new and was not born with the iPad2. Indeed magnets and magnetic sensors embedded in protective envelopes were already on some accessories for RIM Smartphone for over four years.

For against what was new, what are the various spots on the Smart Cover communication with the release of the iPad2. A campaign that sparked a buying fever among fans of the products of the Apple logo sketched. And that is how many people have acquired the iPad2, in part, because of its original protection.

TidyTilt engineers have studied the needs of iPhone users and then riding the wave Smart Cover has completely redesigned the principle of protection for the Smart phone from Apple. Here is the TidyTilt which is a kind of multi-purpose Swiss Army knife for iPhone 4. It can be used first as a cord wrap for headphones, then it can serve as multi-position kickstand to keep the iPhone 4, then it can be transformed into Stiker the iDevice to adhere to any magnetic surface vertical.

The idea of designers (Zahra Tashakorinia and Derek Tarnow) two student of the NRC Institute of Design in Chicago was deemed sufficiently serious by KiStarter to authorize the financing of the project.

TidyTilt should be available for sale to the public by the end of March. the price of the accessory is not yet announced, but it should not exceed 20 dollars.

GSMA 2012 : iPhone 4S didn't win award for "Best Smartphone"

It was held Feb. 28 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona the annual contest of the Global Mobile Awards. For this year 2012, it was the 17th edition. Among the potential winners was especially Apple. Unfortunately, the phone - the iPhone 4S - did not win the award for "best smartphone". No, the winner is its main rival, the Samsung Galaxy SII. The iPhone 4 had however was considered the "Best Mobile Device" last year. It must be said that the competitor has something to compete, its success during the Christmas season is not surprising. But Apple is not distributed empty handed this year. Indeed, the iPad 2 was considered the "Best Mobile Tablet." What to leave with a smile.

So Apple may come back next year and offer its iPhone 5 which - hopefully - will deliver real news and a new design. The next Galaxy Samsung Will it live up to in 2013? Hmm.

Integration of iPhone Siri in Mercedes new cars

After Renault, Mercedes is the builder to announce the tight integration of the iPhone in the new Mercedes A Class Connected and housed in the glove box through a dock connector usual, the iPhone will sell its 3.5-inch display against a 6 inch screen around the center position on the dashboard. Only drawback, if the image displayed on the iPhone is deported on a larger screen, it will go through mandatory physical controls on the steering wheel to control the iPhone (touch on a management screen would have been more accurate but ergonomic least ...).

About Siri, the German brand promise access without using a command! No doubt this launch is the function of the voice that will be permanently activated and boosted by one or more microphones located in the cockpit. Therefore, it is possible to send messages, music player launcher or check the weather by the voice. These new features will be presented at the Automobile Salon in Geneva from 8 to 18 March 2012. The uncle of merco has no interest in straying too far into the forest Switzerland under penalty of receiving 3G, without which many functions remain in the trap ...

Galaxy S3 still inspired by design of iPhone?

According to our colleagues from BGR, the next flagship of Samsung, the Galaxy S3 could well bear a design similar to that of the current iPhone 4S. While the Mobile World Congress being held right now in Barcelona, is decidedly absent from this great about him.

According to the website above named, the Galaxy SIII should have a back ceramic and lines similar to those of the iPhone 4S. Samsung did not fear for the pockets of its customers, the manufacturer should propose a 4.8 inch touch screen on this new smartphone (against 4.27 for the current SII). The craft should also be powered by a Samsung processor dual-core Exynos.

If the design of both units is actually as close as the rumor claimed, no doubt that Apple will rise again into the breach ...

How much is the production of an iPhone 4S?

Here we like a chestnut in iSmooth Blog : estimating the cost of producing the latest Apple iPhone. Today, it is society that Asymco Get exposed after qu'iFixit or iSupply have gone there of their predictions. The work of Asymco for manufacturing and non-price components, which comes out a little routine.

If on average, the components of a $ 200 iPhone back to Apple, the cost of labor is about to him, much lower ... Horace Dediu, an analyst at Asymco, used the information revealed by the ABC report on Foxconn. Knowing that it takes to manufacture a full iPhone 4S, 24 hours of work (including 6 to 8 hours for software testing and operation of the apparatus) and given that a worker is paid $ 1.78 Foxconn time, while making itself an iPhone amounts to $ 30.

Thus, the production cost of an iPhone represents about 5% of the selling price of the machine, which must be added, the component prices (around $ 200 then), customs fees, applicable taxes, insurance (...) and of course research and development upstream.

Given these figures, Apple seems to realize around 55% margin on iPhone (Apple wind knowing that the $ 650 device and the machine cost him 293 dollars).

Apple really knows no crisis ...

Apple iPhone 5 Magic Mouse

A writing iSmooth Blog. We are truly fans of the iPhone concept designed by the studio 5 Intelligent Design. The creators have used the lines of the Magic Mouse to give this iPhone elegant lines. Many feel that the next iPhone will adopt a completely different design of the current iPhone 4S, whose style is inherited from its predecessor, the iPhone 4.

Obviously, if the sixth-generation iPhone should sported a very different design, nothing says that Apple will adopt the guidelines as "curved". These pictures are only creations of designers and do not in any way be representative of the final design of the model.

Anyway, quite a concept right?

A trip to the iFactory : Special Report

The factories where they produced the iPhone and iPad are closed to the 8 keys and this is not news to anyone. But first, a television network was allowed to enter the production line of China's Foxconn (whose client, among other companies, Apple) to know what happens there. And we come to the conclusion that the iPhone is nearly all done by hand.

The special report "A trip to the iFactory" spent last night on ABC in the United States. The program Nightline showed details of the production line of Apple products and how the lives of factory workers at Foxconn are produced where the iPhone and the iPad.

Here's a video with part of the documentary:

In the documentary, interesting data. For example, one finds that the iPhone is for 141 people to get ready, the iPad, by 325 and takes 5 days to complete. Each worker receives $ 1.78 per hour worked and still must pay his own lunch, which costs $ 0.70. Good cheap lunch there, huh?

Workers who have a dormitory at the factory, pay $ 17.50 per month for "rent." It is important to note that the reference costs that we have here in the West (and especially in Brazil) is completely different than it has in China, where everything is cheaper.

A technician said that the working conditions there improved greatly after Apple pushed Foxconn. Formerly it was even worse.

He never spoke much of the working conditions in China / Taiwan and now with Apple. The success of Apple's products draw the attention of the media, who always ignored the atrocities that happened with the workers of the giant Asian country (which, incidentally, has grown into what is today thanks to semi-slavery of his people). But with Apple producing its devices there, now all they are concerned about them.

At least now the world is concerned with the Chinese.

To watch the episode in full (in English), there is the ABC's website, but can only be viewed with a U.S. IP.

Twitter brings back functions in application for iPhone

At the end of last year, the official Twitter application for iPhone received a major update with several changes in its interface, which standardized the service across all platforms.

While many liked the change, others hated it, because the application had lost several practical features, like the gesture of sliding the finger ("slide") on the tweet to access the functions retweet, reply, etc.. Many people hissed and even began to use third party applications (such as the great Tweetbot).

Bowing to popular pressure, Twitter just going back in a new update released on Tuesday.

In the back of the slide, other changes are also part of the update, such as the ability to copy and paste the contents of a tweet, increase the font of the messages and mark as read all the direct messages (DM). The changes are only for the iPhone version.

Who uses the service and want to check out the changes, the update is recommended. If you do not have a Twitter client installed (since iOS 5 is integrated into the system).

You can download Twitter for free.

Apple iPhone 5 : ready to be released in 2012 ?

According to some information collected by MacOtakara, Apple will launch its iPhone 5 during the fall of 2012. This cycle of releasing a new phone to the season leaves seems to be new for Apple. Indeed, until the iPhone 4, we used a keynote and an output for the month of June Since the iPhone 4S, the traditional calendar is somewhat messed up. MacOtakara indicates precisely that "this cycle can be definitive on the duration." The Japanese site does not, however a particular month, it is done either in September or October 2012.

It is true that the iPhone 5 was highly anticipated in 2011. Sources seemed to reach for most, some exclusive details from time to time, even the news agencies like Reuters had few clues. But in vain, it will be "an" iPhone 4S presented by Tim Cook on October 4 last that will be available. Actually - if this is true - the iPhone 5 was indeed originally planned. This is only a matter of months now.

Sparrow for iPhone : The best mail client

A few months ago, we reported in our columns pictures of what appeared to be a version of iOS for Sparrow, the famous mail client interface to the largely inspired by its counterpart for Mac OS X, I named Twitter. Since it was dead calm and we had a hard time with patience the mail client's home or iPhone with the very bad version of Gmail ...

But rest assured, in this beautiful Monday in February (in Toulouse it is very beautiful ...), we finally have some news for us all to eat!

According to some sources speaking, Sparrow for iOS expected to hit the AppStore soon as next month! A specific date is very advanced: March 15. Note that on the official website of the publisher of Sparrow, it was announced that the application is complete to 73% (that's accuracy!), But in all likelihood, it is closer to 95 than 73% ;-)

Patience, therefore, only a few days before making a clean sweep of the usual email clients and benefit from innovations of this software!
