Android web browser is used more than iOS

The latest figures from a study conducted by StatCounter, the Android browser, operating system for smartphones created by Google, is the most used worldwide.

In February, it had a usage share of 22.67%. Thus, the browser passes Android Opera (which has 21.7% share of use), a browser that can be found on the iPhone, the phone of the Cupertino, and the androphones.

The Norwegian browser is now closely followed shortly by that offered by Apple on iOS, the operating system of the U.S. firm, with 21.06%. The latter has grown steadily since December 2011.

However, if the usage share of Safari (Apple's browser) from the iPod touch is taken into account, the software for the Apple brand takes the lead with just over 25%.

It should be noted that the statistics vary greatly from one country to another: in France, Safari leads with over 50%, the U.S., the market is dominated by Android, and Russia, Opera is who wins the prize.

iOS against Android: Apple continues to lead in the pros

A recent study by Good Technology, iPhone and iPad represent 70% of smartphones and tablets in business. Professionals clearly have a strong attraction to the forbidden fruit! These figures do, however, that the company Good Technology and should not be strictly generalized to the entire sector, even though other recent studies have reached the same conclusion.

Anyway, in the third quarter of 2011, 71% of the company Good Technology has enabled terminals of the firm at the apple, a result up 3% from the previous quarter. Meanwhile, the activations of smartphones and tablets Android (Google) is decreased by 32% to 29%.

The reason for this sudden surge? The release of the iPhone 4S course! As explained by Good Technology "The release of the iPhone 4S mid-October has accelerated the activation of IOS devices." Thus the last of the apple smartphone alone accounts for 31% of all activations in the quarter.

Side shelves, Apple products are even more present. The iPad, and iPad 2 represent 94% of activations in late 2011. Note that the mass market level, the situation is quite different since the year 2011, Android beat Apple in the smartphone industry in the U.S. and Europe.

Which crash more iOS or Android Apps?

iPhone and iPad apps have always been considered to be much more polished than Android apps by most users. Apple’s strict style guide and closed App Store create a similar feel among apps, while Google’s Android Market is open for all.

In a new report from crash report analytics company Crittercism, the company says that iOS apps crash more than Android apps, despite what you might think. In their report, Crittercism found that iOS apps tend to crash three times more than Android apps. But why?
Crittercism studied a total of 214 million different app launches between the months of November and December.  A total of 162 million iOS apps crashed, while 52 million Android apps crashed.
Interestingly, doing their research a month after the iOS 5 launch might have not been as inductive of real results. Typically with new OS launches, it takes a while for developers to get their apps to the point where they are more stable. iOS 5 and 5.0.1 made up for 33% of crashed apps on the iOS platform.

The newest iOS could have contributed to the large amount of crashes, and it would certainly be interesting to see how many crashes there are after a few months of iOS 5 on the market.
How is your overall experience been with apps after upgrading to iOS? Are you still seeing an abundance of crashes?

Android application development

Android includes various middleware and key applications. Android Inc was founded in 2003 but was later acquired by Google in 2005.

Java is used as the language for developing android applications. Android is available as an open source for developers to develop applications which can be further used for selling in the app market . Android, a linux based operating system provides Android Software development kit to all developers. Android Development is based on four basic components. First is a UI component that communicates to display screens. Each activity displays one screen to the user. Next is a reaction to an event. Third are the tasks that run in the background. Lastly, service that shares data with other activities and services in the application. Android Application Development is a growing business among software development companies now days. It has proved as a very beneficial business for companies who are into outsourcing Android services and expertise. The companies involved in business of outsourcing Android services and expertise are providing less expensive and high quality services to their clients. The Android software development kit provided by Google includes all the information of development including data storage and its restoration, security and permission, resource of symbols, notifications and background services, UI techniques, routing, browser, short messaging system service, 3D graphics, fast search box, contacts administration, advanced Bluetooth API, games etc. Android application development has some great features like its high speed to collect exact information, the simplicity of the tools used, its ability to supports audio, video, image and many other formats. The most important aspect of Android is its compatibility with different phones, which makes it more user-friendly. The Android phone works like a PC that broadens the different functionalities and keep itself updated with the help of Android application development companies. Using android applications you can perform a number of tasks on your phone once you log in from a PC when both are connected.
Mobile phones have become a vital device as it connects one to the world with just one touch. The devices like Blackberry's and iPhones have proven to be ideal for people who are into business especially when they are sitting in any corner of the world and still want to be near your business. Android applications are suitable for multiple purposes when it comes to your PCs or laptops. The growing number of mobile phone users has pushed up the need for new and more advanced android. As per the trend in the market there has been a straight rise in applications and buyers who want more utility from their mobile phones. The sale of android based smart phones has gone up in the last few months is due to the continuous advancements in creation of android applications by mobile app development company.

BlackBerry Messenger for iOS and Android

Before the release of iPhone by Apple in the Smartphone world, Major market shares were linked with the Rim’s most popular BlackBerry. But Since Apple has released iPhone or Google’s Android OS came in existence RIM’s market share declined very rapidly. Now android is the Major Smartphone Platform with many Hardware companies While Apple is in the line of Smartphones.

However, one of the most popular things from BlackBerry OS was BBM, BlackBerry Messenger that distinguish it from other Smartphones. By the release of iMessage for iOS, or Chat ON from Samsung, BBM has seen a decline in BBM user’s services due to binding to the same network. Well, if you are BlackBerry users, but want to port to Apple, than we have good news for you. RIM’s new CEO Thorsten Heins said that RIM might release BBM to other platforms. In a interview to a very famous BlackBerry weblog, Crackberry, he said that:

We’re constantly exploring our room to maneuver and our room to explore other businesses so I wouldn’t say categorically no to it,” Heins explained. “There is a time where this might make sense, and I have a team looking into this… I’m open for licensing if it makes sense.”

This will be a good step from RIM to save it’s constantly falling Market shares. With the release of other messengers, RIM does will probably not get many users back to its platform. What do you think? DO you want to use BBM on your iPhone? Let us know in the comments section below.

Android Fundamentals

Before directly going to the application development, I thought its better to read something on the Android OS. It was quite interesting to me when I understand that each applications in this OS is treated as different user with different permissions to the assoicated files.More over this OS runs with Linux Kernal as a multi-user Linux system in which each application is a different user.

•By default, the system assigns each application a unique Linux user ID (the ID is used only by the system and is unknown to the application). The system sets permissions for all the files in an application so that only the user ID assigned to that application can access them.

•Each process has its own virtual machine (VM), so an application's code runs in isolation from other applications.

•By default, every application runs in its own Linux process. Android starts the process when any of the application's components need to be executed, then shuts down the process when it's no longer needed or when the system must recover memory for other applications

•It's possible to arrange for two applications to share the same Linux user ID, in which case they are able to access each other's files. To conserve system resources, applications with the same user ID can also arrange to run in the same Linux process and share the same VM (the applications must also be signed with the same certificate).

•An application can request permission to access device data such as the user's contacts, SMS messages, the mountable storage (SD card), camera, Bluetooth, and more. All application permissions must be granted by the user at install time.

Android Applications Development

Next years smart phones will be driven be Android OS.Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware, and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and libraries necessary to begin developing applications that run on Android-powered devices.

I started with the Android application development. For the the initial set up ,going through the Youtube Tutorials. The Android application development tools are Eclipse and Android sdk. Some of the links recently I tried to follow.

http://code.google.com/android/

You can download the Android sdk from the following link http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
