In a statement to the press, Apple today announced that the Fair Labor Association (FLA) was preparing to conduct "special audits voluntary" in the main subcontractor of Apple, Foxconn. And especially in the factories of Shenzhen City and Foxconn.

The approach, although late, is commendable. I bet though that if plants are concerned the working conditions instead of just "safe", Foxconn will surely time to correct his faults to be spotless by the arrival of experts.

"We believe that workers, wherever they are, have the right to work in a secure and fair. That's why Apple has asked the FLA to independently assess the situation of its subcontractors. Inspections are currently being unprecedented in the electronics industry, both in scale and scope, and we are grateful to the FLA for agreeing to identify in its reports the different plants, which is it an unusual step "
