Set in 18th-century Montreal, this is the thrilling story of a sixteen-year-old maid who is sentenced to death by hanging for stealing a pair of gloves. The only way she can escape her sentence is to somehow convince the prisoner in the next cell--who she can't even see--to become the hangman and marry her. Believe it or not, this tale is based on a true story.
