Apple invented the fusion of plastic and metal

In order to stay one step ahead, Apple must constantly remain at the forefront of innovation.

Tired of using adhesives not always reliable, the Cupertino company is currently experimenting with new techniques of fusion of metal with plastic to improve the robustness of its iPhones.

This new concept has been the subject of a patent application by Apple in September. It says that:

All attempts in the past to substitute portions of metal with plastic parts in an architecture where the solder is used have always been a failure.

The solution proposed by the California company is to manufacture metal parts having an irregular surface, which has the advantage of better binding to the molten plastic. In this way, the plastic could be welded by ultrasound with the metal part, can you read.

The move will undoubtedly offer designers more flexibility to design new devices, and why not help to alleviate some of our more iPhones and other iPods.
